Solving Ratios

Video/Activity Description

During the Ratio Activity students will begin by helping Santa calculate ratios in order to figure out how many bears, toy trains, and dolls the town that Jimmy lives in needs.  After computing this as a class the students will then get in groups of 2 or 3 to help Santa build boxes to place all these presents in.  The boxes are made up of Tangram pieces which have ratio problems written on them.  The students will have to work together to solve the ratio problems in order to find its match and build the boxes.  This activity is an enjoyable one especially during the Christmas time of year!
